Score Before You Speak

The untrained person reacts. The PLT practitioner reads.

Before the first word of any significant conversation, the PLT practitioner has already assessed three things: their Profit position, the Love balance, and the Tax exposure on both sides. This is not hesitation. It is preparation compressed into habit.

What Scoring Looks Like

Profit read: What is my leverage here? What do they need from me? What do I need from them? Who has more options? Who can walk away more easily?

Love read: What is the state of this relationship? Have I been making deposits or withdrawals? Can this relationship hold a hard conversation right now?

Tax read: What's already been deferred? Is there accumulated Tax on either side that needs to be addressed before we can move forward?

"Score the room before you speak. Most of the work happens before you open your mouth."

Speed of Scoring

New PLT practitioners score slowly and consciously. With practice, the three-part read becomes automatic — happening in the seconds before a response, before walking into a room, before picking up the phone.

The goal is not to over-analyze every interaction. The goal is to never enter a significant exchange unaware of where you stand.
